Madhuparna directs her own teaching institute called Madhuparna Kumar Dance Research Academy specializing in Bharatnatyam instruction. The pedagogical system closely follows the teaching practices at Nalanda Dance Research Academy, of which Madhuparna is a distinguished alumnus.



Her dance and dance instruction incorporates elements of three styles or schools:
Kalamandalam style under the guidance of Guru Thankomuni Kutti. This style was developed in Kerala and incorporates influences from Mohiniattam (‘Enchantress’s Dance’) in which Madhuparna is also trained in.
Her most iconic solo performance as a dancer was her role as the clever and resourceful slave-girl Morgiana (‘small pearl’), the heroine of the dance-drama ‘Ali Baba Chaalis Chor’ (Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves) held in Toronto,Canada in 2013.
Education
She also has training in Classical Music, and this enables her to express her musicality more effectively via the medium of dance.To get a clear synergy of the sadhana she learnt yoga under the guidance of Uma Bansali and now practing as a Yoga instructor.
She also has knowledge in Classical Music under the guidance of Pandit Ratan Mohan Sharma, nephew of Pandit Jasraj.
